Alt text describes an image for people using screen readers, and it helps search engines understand your photos. Say what matters: who, what, where, and any words shown in the image.
Platform limits: Instagram 1,000 · X 1,000 · Bluesky 2,000 · Pinterest 500 · LinkedIn 4,086, though LinkedIn suggests staying under 120. Most screen-reader users prefer about 125 characters or fewer.
Tag your links so Google Analytics shows exactly which platform, post or campaign sent each visitor. Use the same spelling every time, since “Facebook” and “facebook” show up as two different sources.
Instagram captions don’t make links clickable. Put a tagged link in your bio or a story link sticker instead.

Style headlines, not paragraphs
Fancy letters are separate math and symbol characters. Screen readers may spell them out or skip them, so keep body text plain and save styles for a title or label.
Fancy text costs more on X
X counts each styled letter and emoji as two characters. The counter above switches to X’s weighting when you pick it.
Keep your blank lines
Some apps squash empty lines. Use “Keep blank lines” in Clean-up, or the blank-line keeper in Symbols, to hold your spacing.
