Your home movies, saved for good.

We convert old VHS, Hi8, MiniDV and more to digital — by hand, right here in the Tri-Region. No drive to Edmonton, and your only copy never gets mailed out of province.
  • Local & in-house

Your tapes are handled in-house and never leave the Tri-Region.

  • Instant access

Download your memories the day they are ready — link stays active 10 days.

  • A copy you own

Take your files home on SSD, USB or DVD — yours to keep for good.

  • Backed by an I.T. team

Careful handling from the team that manages data for a living.

Tape doesn’t last forever.

Magnetic tape loses a little more every year — colour washes out, the picture starts to roll, and eventually a player chews it up for good. The afternoons, weddings and birthdays on those tapes can’t be filmed again. Digitizing them now is the only way to keep them watchable for the next generation.

Formats we transfer

VHS · VHS-C · Hi8 · Video8 · Digital8 · MiniDV

Format note: We transfer North American (NTSC) tapes. We don’t currently handle PAL or SECAM tapes from overseas.

Delivery format: Your videos are delivered as MP4 files that play on any phone, computer or smart TV.

How It Works — Alchemy Archive

How it works

Three steps from shelf to screen.

Bring in your tapes, we handle the transfer locally, and you get digital files you can watch, share, and keep.

Step 01
Bring in your tapes

Drop them off close to home. Not sure how many hours of footage you’ve got, or what format they are? Bring them in and we’ll figure it out with you.

Step 02
We digitize, by hand

Every tape is inspected and captured in real time at our own workstations, with blank space and dead air trimmed out. Nothing is outsourced and nothing leaves the region.

Step 03
Watch, share and keep

Collect your original tapes plus your files on SSD, USB or DVD, and download everything from a private link that stays active for 10 days — so you can start watching and sharing right away.

The only memory lab in the Tri-Region

Until now, digitizing old tapes meant a drive into Edmonton — twice, once to drop off and once to pick up — plus the gas and a lost afternoon. Or worse: mailing irreplaceable tapes across the country and hoping they came back. Alchemy Archive keeps the whole thing close to home. Your tapes are handled in-house by the team behind Alchemy I.T., and they never leave the region.

  • Stays local — Done in-house — your tapes are never shipped out of province.
  • Done by hand — Real-time, careful capture with basic trimming included on every tape.
  • Yours to keep — Files on the media you choose, plus a 10-day download to watch and share right away.

Tapes piling up at the office?

Churches, clubs, schools and businesses across the Tri-Region have shelves of old training videos, event footage and archives sitting on tape. We digitize bulk collections, and because we’re part of Alchemy I.T., we can store and manage the finished files for you too. Ask about volume rates for organizations.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before bringing in your tapes for local, in-house digitizing.

What formats do you transfer?

VHS, VHS-C, Hi8, Video8, Digital8 and MiniDV. We work with North American (NTSC) tapes; we don’t currently transfer PAL or SECAM tapes from overseas.

Do my tapes ever leave the Tri-Region?

No. Every tape is digitized in-house at our own workstations and stays local from drop-off to pickup. We never outsource or ship your tapes out of province.

How long will it take?

Most orders are ready within about 2-5 business days. Because we can digitize many tapes at once, even large collections move quickly — we’ll give you a timeline when you drop off.

How do I get my digital files?

Two ways. You’ll get a private download link the day your order is ready, active for 10 days, so you can watch and share right away — and you can take your files home on SSD, USB or DVD as a copy to keep.

What happens after the 10-day download window?

The link expires after 10 days, so download your files and save your own backup before then. Your physical media, whether SSD, USB or DVD, is your permanent copy. If you miss the window, get in touch and we’ll help.

What if a tape is damaged?

We inspect every tape first and can often work with minor issues. If a tape needs repair or we can’t safely transfer it, we’ll contact you before doing anything — no surprise charges.

What will the files play on?

Your videos are delivered as MP4 files, which play on virtually any phone, tablet, computer or smart TV.

How much does it cost?

$54.99 per tape for up to two hours, plus $25 for each additional hour. A 10-day download link is included, and we offer discounts on larger collections. See the pricing above.

How do I pay?

We accept e-transfer, debit, credit. Payment is due when you pick up your finished order.

Can businesses get a bulk rate?

Yes. We handle bulk collections for organizations and can store and manage the files through Alchemy I.T. Get in touch for a quote.

Attachments & More

Heavy-Duty Meets High-Impact Design

When Attachments & More approached us to rebuild their online presence, we knew it was time to bring bold energy to an industry that often plays it safe online. Led by dedicated owners Darin “Chuck” Holowaychuk and Sharon Holowaychuk, this family-run business specializes in heavy-duty equipment and custom attachments—most notably their growing line of compact loaders and accessories from Avant, one of their premier manufacturers.

Our goal? Deliver a visually impactful, user-friendly website that not only showcases their equipment lineup and services, but positions Attachments & More as a standout in their market. The final result is a vivid, modern, and technically robust site that captures their brand personality and puts them steps ahead of competitor sites in the heavy equipment and compact loader space.

Beyond the design and development, we also navigated a challenging handoff process from a previous developer and hosting company—helping consolidate logins, assets, and systems under one roof for greater control, security, and ease of management for their team.

From the clean navigation and intuitive equipment browsing to the dynamic visual layout that champions their Avant partnership, this build was all about bringing clarity and authority to their online voice—while ensuring the backend runs just as smoothly as the frontend looks.

Today, we’re proud to provide secure hosting, ongoing site maintenance, and continued digital support for the Attachments & More team.

We’re even prouder to have worked alongside such dedicated business owners who care deeply about quality, relationships, and doing things right.

Shield Fire Protection

Working with Shield Fire Protection was a truly rewarding experience. From day one, owner Bill Hansen and Service & Inspection Manager Dan Litrop brought a clear, focused vision to the table. They knew exactly what their website needed to accomplish: communicate professionalism, reinforce trust, and reflect the technical expertise that defines their fire protection services across Alberta.

At Alchemy Imageworks, our role was to translate that vision into a modern, high-performance website that not only looked exceptional but also supported Shield’s credibility and operational goals. We developed a clean, structured, and fully responsive website that showcases their services with clarity, authority, and immediate accessibility. Every component — from page layout and navigation to copy structure and visual hierarchy — was crafted to support both user trust and business growth.

Beyond the build itself, we now provide secure web hosting and ongoing site maintenance, ensuring the Shield Fire Protection website remains protected, fast, stable, and up-to-date year-round. With cyberthreats evolving and online expectations rising, maintaining their digital foundation with enterprise-grade hosting, proactive updates, real-time monitoring, and regular security hardening is essential. Bill and Dan can stay focused on their clients, knowing their online presence is fully managed behind the scenes.

Working with Shield Fire Protection was a win from start to finish — collaborative, efficient, and driven by a shared commitment to quality. We’re proud to support their brand with a website that reflects the strength and reliability of the services they provide throughout Alberta.
